The Oregon Coast is always a great place to visit. There’s something about the beach – sun or rain, the beach just makes everything in life better. That being said, the worst kept secret of the Oregon Coast is that the fall usually brings the nicest weather. The Lincoln City area, benefiting from the temperature moderation of the Pacific, averages 60 degrees year round, but the fall and spring tend to be drier and sunnier than other times of the year.
In honor of our good weather wishes, here are some great things to do outdoors this fall:
- Free Clamming Clinics
Enjoy your own “catch of the day” when you participate in a clamming clinic during the month of September. They start out with a 45 minute lecture about the basics on regulations, cleaning and cooking. After that, use what you’ve learned and dig up dinner with the rest of your classmates.When: September 6, 13 and 20
Where: Lecture: Driftwood Public Library (801 SW Hwy 101 in Lincoln City) Clam Digging: gravel pullout just north of the Bay House Restaurant located on the west side of Hwy 101
What do I need: Shellfish license, Pair of gloves to protect your fingers, Clam bag, 5 gallon bucket, Shovel. Shovels and clam bags will be available for purchase on site the day of the clinic. Payment must be made by cash or check only.
