Winter Whale Watch Week on the Oregon Coast

Date

While two hundred whales call the Oregon Coast a permanent residence, making whale watching a year round event, late December and early January sees the advent of the winter Gray Whale migration during which 18,000 Gray Whales slide by the Oregon Coast on their way South to warmer waters.

December 26th to 31st has been set aside as Winter Whale Watch Week. During this time, trained volunteers are available to answer questions and help folks spot migrating whales from 10 am to 1 pm at any one of the 24 “Whale Watching Spoken Here” sites along the Oregon Coast. Two of these, Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint and The Whale Watching Center at Depoe Bay Seawall Park, are just South of Bella Beach. Ready to dust off the binoculars and look for some whales?
And so, it is time to wrap up for now – see you again next week!
